Long before the skyscrapers, Dubai grew up around its creek. Pearl divers, fishermen and merchants worked from its banks, and wooden dhows still load cargo along the Deira wharves today. This two-hour dinner cruise brings you onto that historic waterway in the evening, when the old quarters and newer landmarks along the shore are softly lit.
Your dhow travels along the creek between Deira and Bur Dubai, passing traditional abras ferrying passengers across the water, heritage buildings, mosques and souks on either side. Depending on the route, you may also see newer waterfront developments further along the creek. The pace is gentle, making it easy to enjoy the breeze from the open upper deck or stay cool inside the air-conditioned lower deck.
An international buffet with Arabic dishes is usually served during the cruise, along with soft drinks, water, tea and coffee. Light background music and a tanoura dance performance typically add to the atmosphere.
Compared with a marina cruise, the creek offers more heritage character and a calmer, more traditional feel. It suits families, couples and visitors who want to combine dinner with a first look at Old Dubai. Smart casual clothing is recommended.
