This is Dubai’s classic desert evening, timed so you meet the dunes in the softest light of the day. Our driver collects you from your hotel or home in the afternoon and heads out of the city towards the open desert, where the landscape changes from highway and villas to rolling sand within about an hour.
Once the tyres are deflated, an experienced driver takes you over the dunes in a 4×4 for a thrilling, carefully controlled ride. There is time to step out, take photographs as the sun drops and, if you like, try sandboarding down a slope. The colours shift quickly at dusk, so keep your camera close.
As darkness falls you arrive at a Bedouin-style camp set up with low seating, carpets and lanterns. Guests usually enjoy a short camel ride, Arabic coffee and dates, henna and the chance to try traditional dress. The entertainment typically includes a Tanoura spinning performance and a fire show, followed by a barbecue buffet with grilled meats, vegetarian dishes, salads and desserts.
It is a relaxed, sociable evening that suits couples, families and first-time visitors who want the desert in one easy outing. We confirm the exact camp, timings and inclusions with you on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
