Most visitors leave the desert after dinner. On this overnight safari you stay on, and that is when the dunes are at their most peaceful. Once the evening crowds depart, the camp quietens, the sky darkens well beyond what the city allows, and you can sit by the fire or under the stars before turning in.

The day begins with an afternoon pickup and a 4×4 drive across the dunes, with a sunset stop for photographs and sandboarding. At the camp you enjoy the usual evening programme of camel riding, henna, Arabic coffee, live performances and a barbecue dinner.

Night and sunrise in the desert

Sleeping arrangements depend on the camp and season: typically mattresses, bedding and pillows in a tent or a traditional open-air setting, with shared washroom facilities. Early risers can walk up a nearby dune for sunrise, when the sand turns from grey to gold within minutes. After breakfast at the camp, you are driven back to Dubai, usually arriving mid-morning.

The overnight safari is best from roughly October to April, when nights are comfortable. We confirm the camp, sleeping set-up and exact timings with you on WhatsApp before any payment.
