The aquarium beneath Atlantis The Palm, long known as The Lost Chambers, reopened in October 2025 as The Lost World Aquarium after a major redesign. The legend of the lost city of Atlantis is still the theme, but it is now told through 14 immersive chambers that combine living exhibits with projection mapping, LED walls and a specially composed soundtrack.
More than 65,000 marine animals live across the aquarium’s 21 exhibits, including sharks, rays, moray eels and seahorses, along with newer arrivals such as the axolotl and the giant Pacific octopus. The large Ambassador Lagoon is the visual highlight, and a daily mermaid performance takes place in its waters.
An optional Interactive Trident, available at the entrance, unlocks extra stories and hidden effects as you walk through, which children especially enjoy. For a deeper look, a behind-the-scenes tour with a marine educator visits areas such as the fish hospital and the shark and ray nursery, and guests can also snorkel, dive or helmet-walk in the Ambassador Lagoon at extra cost.
The aquarium is indoors and air-conditioned, which makes it a good choice for a hot afternoon or an evening visit, and it is open to all ages. Allow one to two hours for an unhurried visit.
